The data of January of this year show that the Gross Value of Agricultural Production (GVA) is estimated at R $ 1,265.2 trillion, and this is the best result since 1986 for this indicator.
Compared to the previous year, which totaled 1.189 trillion reais, it is estimated that the real increase will be 6.1% for this year. The agricultural sector will have an expected revenue of 900.8 billion reais, while livestock will reach 364.4 billion.
The Gross Production Value (GVA) of crops increased by 10.5% compared to last year, while livestock had a decrease of 2.7%. Fortunately, the climate for this year is very promising except for Rio Grande do Sul. In this area, there was a period without rainfall which resulted in low yields in crops such as soybeans, corn and beans.

The forecast of an unprecedented harvest of grains for 2023, released by IBGE and Conab, is an indication of the estimated production, with the numbers reaching 302.0 million tons (according to IBGE) and 310.6 million (Conab).
Corn and soybeans will be the main responsible for growth in the crop sector. Soybeans represent 44.5% of the BNP, with a predicted value of R$ 401.0 billion. For 2023, sugarcane is projected to grow at a record level, thus contributing to a greater total of agricultural production this year.

Planned benefits for various agricultural products, including cotton, rice, potatoes, cocoa, beans, oranges, cassava, tomatoes and grapes. Along with corn and soybeans are boosting agricultural revenues. Pigs and milk perform best in relation to livestock; beef, chicken and eggs tend to have negative results in Gross Product Volume (GV) this year.
The report showed that soybeans, corn, sugarcane, coffee and cotton generate the majority of the revenue of the 17 products studied, totaling 83.7% of the Gross Value of the Products of the crops.
The BPS (Gross Production Value) is the indicator that takes into account the development of crop and livestock yields throughout the year. The calculation is based on agricultural production and prices paid to producers in the main markets of 26 national products.
The real value of production is obtained, discounted from inflation, by the General Price Index (PGI-DI) of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). The periodicity is monthly with updating and dissemination until the 15th of each month.
