Cattle slaughter in the fourth quarter of 2022 registered 7.44 million heads under some type of health inspection service, according to IBGE. Compared to the third quarter of last year, there was a decrease of 5.2%, but compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, there was an increase of 6.9%. The production of bovine carcasses totaled 2.02 million tons in the fourth quarter of 2022, an increase of 4.7% compared to the fourth quarter of 2021 and a reduction of 5.6% compared to the third quarter of 2022.

Pigs

The slaughter of pigs totaled 13.80 million heads in the fourth quarter of 2022, an increase of 2.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. There was a decrease of 4.5% compared to the third quarter of last year, according to IBGE. The cumulative weight of carcasses was 1.27 million tons in the fourth quarter of 2022, 3.0% more than in the fourth quarter of 2021 and 5.1% less than in the immediately preceding quarter.

Chicken

1.56 Billion chicken heads were slaughtered in the fourth quarter of 2022, up 2.0% compared to the third quarter of 2022. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, there was an increase of 2.1%. The cumulative weight of carcasses was 3.32 million tons in the fourth quarter of 2022, an increase of 4.7% compared to the fourth quarter of 2021 and an increase of 3.5% compared to the previous quarter.
